Job Summary

The Diagnostic Specialist at Mount Sinai Health System is a key member of our medical team, responsible for supporting quality patient care and performing routine examinations. This role requires a professional individual who is skilled in assisting physicians and registered nurses with daily clinical activities and performing standard diagnostic procedures.

Responsibilities

* Plans and manages patient care according to each patient's needs
* Interviews patients and records their medical history and physical condition
* Obtains patient vital signs, including pulse, blood pressure, temperature, and respiration
* Provides routine care for patients
* Reviews medical charts
* Accompanies patients to their rooms
* Assists physicians and registered nurses
* Communicates with patients and their families
* Performs standard diagnostic procedures, including EKG, phlebotomy, venipuncture, spirometry, etc.
* Prepares specimens for lab courier
* Administers medications
* Provides wound care
* Prepares and administers injections
* Verifies that patient charts are updated promptly and accurately
* Observes and records patients' conditions and reactions to medications and treatment

Qualifications

* Completion of a New York State-approved training program in licensed practical nursing
* BLS certification
* 1-2 years recent nursing experience
* Active New York State LPN licensure
