We are currently offering a $600 sign-on bonus due to the critical service needs of the communities we serve.

This is a part-time role (24 hours) scheduled for Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm.

The Community Living Instructor/Mental Health Care Assistant plays a vital role in assisting the Wellness Team with the facilitation of activities and group sessions for residents in our Clustered Apartment program. This position is essential in delivering a range of services aimed at enhancing rehabilitation across five program components: Living Skills, Self-Care Skills, Social Skills, Leisure Skills, and Work Skills. To excel in this position, you must be comfortable working closely with individuals experiencing chronic mental health challenges and possess a strong commitment to providing exceptional client care.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure a safe and secure environment conducive to the therapeutic growth of clients through vigilant oversight of the program and facility grounds.
  • Utilize individual and group activities to assist consumers in developing behaviors and skills that enable them to engage in age-appropriate activities based on their unique needs and abilities.
  • Implement DMH-approved curricula focused on skill-building and knowledge regarding the management of mental illness to support consumers in maintaining community living.
  • Employ a curriculum centered around five core components, utilizing training, coaching, and support for daily living skills, mood management, relationship boundaries, medication education, symptom recognition and reduction, health and wellness, anger management, problem-solving, goal setting, conflict resolution, and communication skills.
  • Provide consistent, meaningful individual and group activities tailored to the skill and cognitive levels of consumers, ensuring engagement and interest.
  • Assist consumers in accessing necessary mental health services, including accompanying them to appointments for medical or other health-related needs.
  • Support consumers in navigating various public services, including financial and housing assistance, particularly in emergency situations, and directly aid in meeting needs for food, shelter, and clothing.
  • Facilitate access to and utilization of community agencies and resources that offer ongoing social, educational, vocational, and recreational support and activities.
  • High School diploma or GED is required.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in a mental health-related field is preferred.
  • A valid driver's license is required at the time of hire, with the ability to obtain and maintain a Class E MO driver's license within the introductory period.
