Overview
American Foods Group, LLC is currently seeking a Maintenance Mechanic II to join our dedicated team.
As a Maintenance Mechanic II, your responsibilities will include:
- Executing various welding techniques including tig, stick, and mig welding.
- Conducting intermediate plumbing tasks, which involve the installation and upkeep of piping systems.
- Identifying and sourcing parts and part numbers from machinery manuals or parts catalogs, including components for Cryovac, overhead chains, rail switches, conveyors, and saws.
- Performing routine preventive maintenance tasks such as greasing bearings, lubricating machinery, checking fluid levels, and replacing filters to ensure optimal operation of machines and building systems.
- Assembling, installing, or repairing plumbing systems and equipment to maintain the functionality of mechanical equipment and the structural integrity of the facility.
- Carrying out basic maintenance on forklifts.
- Engaging in fundamental hydraulic maintenance.
- Completing necessary documentation, including preventive maintenance sheets and work orders.
- Assisting in the maintenance of scale equipment in designated areas.
- Reporting any malfunctions or required repairs to the lead or supervisor.
- Note: This description is not exhaustive. Additional related duties may be assigned to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications (Required):
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must have the legal right to work in the United States.
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- A minimum of 6 months of maintenance experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Previous experience with hand and power tools, as well as precision measuring instruments, and the ability to interpret drawings and blueprints.
- Must be capable of working in various environmental conditions, including warm, hot, humid, cold, and wet environments, and on slippery surfaces at different heights around moving equipment.
- Availability to work extended hours, including overtime, as needed, with variable start times based on production demands.
- Must successfully complete training in Safety, Safe Quality Food (SQF), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Food Defense, and Lock Out/Tag Out procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous maintenance experience in a USDA-inspected beef, pork, or poultry facility.
- Relevant work history within the last year.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficient in basic welding techniques, primarily tig, with some experience in mig and stick welding, and the ability to assess weld quality.
