Position Overview:

The Surgical Specialty Nursing Coordinator will oversee nursing care within the ENT, Dental, and Plastics departments. This role involves prescribing, delegating, and coordinating patient care while fostering collaboration among nursing and ancillary staff to uphold professional nursing standards in a clinical environment. The coordinator will assess and enhance the quality, consistency, and efficiency of the designated specialty, contributing to the educational and collaborative objectives of Baptist Health.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough assessments to identify patient needs, implement suitable interventions, delegate nursing tasks, and supervise care delivery.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive care plan, ensuring that nursing interventions effectively address patient issues while performing technical care aspects competently.
  • Exhibit proficiency in technology and computer systems relevant to nursing practice.
  • Collaborate with surgical technologists and support staff to ensure cleanliness and safety post-procedure.
  • Mentor and orient new nursing staff within the specialty area.
  • Establish clinical competencies for newly hired personnel and existing staff involved in the specialty.
Qualifications:
  • Active licensure from the Kentucky State Board of Nursing is mandatory.
  • A minimum of one year of nursing experience is preferred, with at least two years of relevant patient care experience required.
