Grains Procurement Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Grains Procurement Representative to join our team at Valero Renewables - Hartley. As a key member of our commodities group, you will be responsible for procuring grain and establishing supplier relationships while supporting the goals and objectives of the company.

• Purchase corn supply as required from producers and grain elevators in accordance with guidelines provided.
• Establish relationships with area producers and marketing groups as well as backup relationships with other locations.
• Assist with determining appropriate cash contracts for the region.
• Communicate effectively with producers and elevators as required for contracting grain purchases and scheduling deliveries.
• Enter purchase contracts into grain accounting system.
• Maintain grain position reports for facility; compile and maintain corporate-wide position report.
• Work with accounting department as required to ensure accuracy and timeliness of payments to producers and elevators.
• Coordinate location hedge positions and recommendations to upper management.

• Associate's degree or higher level degree required.
• Bachelor's or higher level degree from an accredited four-year college or university preferred.
• 5 years of experience with agriculture products or grain purchasing required.
• Proven customer service experience required.
• Experience managing multiple tasks simultaneously required.
• Experience with accounting systems required.
• Able and willing to work on-site and in-person, required.

Valero's Hartley ethanol plant is located near Hartley, Iowa, about 100 miles east and south of Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

The bio-refinery sits on approximately 350 acres and started ethanol production in August 2008.

The facility uses a dry-grind production method and state-of-the-art technology to maintain industry-leading standards in production, safety, product quality and environmental stewardship.

The Hartley plant annually processes approximately 48 million bushels of corn into approximately 135 million gallons of denatured ethanol and 400,000 tons of distillers grains co-products.

The bio-refinery employs approximately 65 full-time personnel.
