Job Opportunity: Neonatal Nurse Practitioner

We are seeking a highly skilled Neonatal Nurse Practitioner to join our team at Trinity Health. As a Per Diem Neonatal Nurse Practitioner, you will have the opportunity to provide expert care to newborn patients in a level II NICU setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess, evaluate, and treat neonates under the supervision of pediatricians.
  • Function as the mid-level provider for newborn patients by assessing, planning, and evaluating medical care under the direction of the attending pediatrician.
  • Order and interpret laboratory data and plain x-ray film as appropriate.
  • Write appropriate orders for medications, IV therapy, parental nutrition, blood products, and for admissions, transfers, and discharges.
  • Attend high-risk deliveries, resuscitate, and stabilize patients.
  • Stabilize babies for transport to other hospital systems that require a higher level of care.

Requirements:

  • Successful completion of an accredited NNP program.
  • NNP Certification.
  • Unrestricted State of Iowa License.
  • Experience in a NICU for a minimum of two years.
  • Must be comfortable working independently as only 1 NNP will be scheduled per shift.
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS Certification.
  • NRP Certification.
  • Clinical knowledge, current clinical competences, and analytical abilities necessary to formulate nursing and medical interventions.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate with patients, families, physicians, other health care personnel, and visitors.
