Position Summary
We are looking for a Quality Engineer who possesses a strong enthusiasm for components, supply chain dynamics, and all aspects of manufacturing. In this pivotal role within our manufacturing division, you will be instrumental in guaranteeing that our products adhere to the highest quality and reliability standards. Your responsibilities will encompass the development, implementation, and maintenance of quality assurance protocols that bolster our manufacturing operations. You will collaborate closely with production teams, suppliers, and various engineering departments to identify and rectify quality challenges, ensuring our products not only meet but surpass customer expectations. Additionally, you will assist in establishing Whisper Aero's Quality Management System and lead initiatives that facilitate customer deliveries. Your responsibilities will also include addressing supply chain issues and ensuring our suppliers meet our stringent quality standards. This role will support various manufacturing activities, including planning, scheduling, kitting, in-process inspections, inventory management, shipping, and receiving.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and uphold quality standards, procedures, and control plans to guarantee consistent product quality throughout the manufacturing lifecycle.
- Lead investigations and corrective action initiatives for quality-related challenges, employing data-driven methodologies to implement effective solutions.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives in manufacturing processes, concentrating on defect reduction, efficiency enhancement, and overall product quality improvement.
- Engage with suppliers to ensure incoming materials comply with our quality standards and collaborate with them to address any quality issues.
- Ensure compliance of all manufacturing processes with industry standards, regulatory mandates, and company policies.
- Maintain precise records of quality inspections, test outcomes, and other pertinent data, preparing reports to communicate quality performance and trends to stakeholders.
Essential Qualifications
- US Citizenship / Green Card Status
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering, or 8 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
- 5+ years of pertinent experience in Quality Engineering or Supplier Quality Engineering.
- 5+ years of experience in high-volume manufacturing and assembly engineering of complex products within automotive, consumer, or aerospace sectors.
- Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans, and functional test procedures.
- Experience managing technical project initiatives.
- 2+ years of experience conducting internal and/or supplier audits.
- 2+ years of experience with quality tools such as 8D, DOE, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC, etc.
- Proficient in MS Office, ERP, and PLM software.
- Demonstrated ability in business and technical communication.
- Familiarity with ISO9001 and AS9100 standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a related engineering field.
- Experience collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to bring product designs from concept to production.
- Proven history of guiding products through the entire product development lifecycle.
- Proficient in GD&T as per ASME Y14.5 standards.
- ASQ certifications such as Certified Supplier Quality Professional, Certified Quality Engineer, or Six Sigma Black Belt.
- Experience with hands-on inspection or using calibrated inspection tools.
- Experience leading Lean Manufacturing initiatives.
- Familiarity with FAA 14 CFR requirements.
