Advocate Aurora Health is seeking a skilled Cardiovascular Technologist to join our team in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities- Provide professional, highly technical nursing care to all cardiovascular patients, while assisting physicians during all cardiovascular procedures.
- Function as a liaison for patients, patient's families, and physicians, ensuring seamless communication and coordination.
- Assist physicians in the operation of technical equipment utilized during all procedures, maintaining a high level of proficiency and expertise.
- Maintain complete documentation of cardiovascular procedures, adhering to strict quality control standards.
- Participate in in-services, continuing education, and workshops to remain abreast of new procedures and current technologies, ensuring the highest level of patient care.
- Accountable for the maintenance of quality control in all areas of the lab, identifying and implementing process improvements as needed.
- Provide a secure and safe environment for patients and staff, maintaining constant awareness of safety hazards and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
- Assist with new staff orientation within the department, serving as a resource person for all clinical activities.
- Act as a role model within the department, demonstrating excellence in clinical practice and serving as a mentor to colleagues.
- Typically requires 2 years of cardiac cath lab experience, with demonstrated proficiency in PTCA, EPS preferred.
- AAS in RTR, or RTN license, or a minimum of 5 years of experience as RTR or RTN, preferred.
- Minimum of 12 CEU hours per year, with a focus on cardiovascular technology and patient care.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, with the ability to anticipate patient and unit needs.
- Ability to teach procedures to staff, with a focus on quality and safety.
- Current License in the state of IL as a RTR, RTN, RCVT, or Paramedic (EMT-P), with ACLS, IABP, and RCIS certification within two years of employment.
- Ability to function in a high-stress environment, lift and move heavy patients and equipment, stand for long periods of time, and work flexible hours and on-call basis.
