Job Overview
We are seeking a part-time Science Education Specialist to lead students through an inquiry-based discovery method involving instructor demonstrations, hands-on activities, and amazing take-home projects that will illustrate how science affects the world around us.
Responsibilities
As a Science Education Specialist, you will:
- Facilitate a one-hour after-school science enrichment program using a pre-set curriculum.
- Attend orientation and training prior to starting your programs.
- Ensure the safety of the kids during programs.
- Engage with the kids during the activities and experiments, making sure they have fun and are not just sitting through a lecture.
- Be able to lift equipment in kits, which can vary in size and weight (heavier kits have wheels), and have a vehicle that can accommodate the equipment.
- Be able to drive to and from the program with your own vehicle, as programs are located in various locations including Hamilton, Bordentown, Princeton, Levittown, and more.
Schedule and Pay
You will be scheduled at a school close to you, where you will report to the same location and time each week for either 6 or 8 consecutive weeks. Programs typically start at between 3-3:45PM and last 1.5 hours. You will be compensated $40 for each 1.5-hour program, and mileage will be compensated for any program over 25 miles round trip.
Qualifications
To be a successful Science Education Specialist, you must have:
- Experience working with children.
- Your own reliable car and license.
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Be vaccinated for COVID-19.
- A background in science and/or experience in performing is a plus.
Compensation and Benefits
You will be compensated $40.00 per hour, and we offer mileage compensation for programs over 25 miles round trip. As a Science Education Specialist, you will be part of a global team that is dedicated to inspiring the next generation of scientists and engineers.
Why Mad Science?
At Mad Science, we are passionate about making science education fun and engaging for kids. We believe that every child has the potential to become a scientist, engineer, or innovator, and we are committed to providing high-quality programs that inspire and motivate them to learn.
