Job Summary

GAI Consultants is seeking a highly skilled Substation and Protection & Controls Engineer 3 to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing substation and protection and controls systems for various projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and design substation and protection and controls systems, including one-lines, physical arrangement, grounding, schematics, and wiring.
  • Develop and integrate protection and control drawings to interface with the physical layout and design of substations.
  • Design and size auxiliary systems, including AC/DC load centers, batteries, and chargers.
  • Order long-lead item materials and conduct point-to-point checks.
  • Review junior engineer designs, verify they meet client standards and specifications, and identify gaps in client's protection.
  • Document QA/QC reviews, maintain record documents, and communicate information to the team.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) License, reciprocity in multiple states.
  • 8+ years of experience in substation and protection and controls design.
  • Proficient in the use of AutoCAD and/or Microstation.
  • Experience developing relay settings.
