Position Overview
Larson is in search of a seasoned Process Engineer to spearhead the front-end engineering and detailed design of projects across various processing sectors, including pulp & paper, grain, chemical processing, and power generation.
The ideal candidate will possess recent experience in engineering consultancy, design engineering for construction documentation, and leading multi-disciplinary projects while overseeing heavy industrial initiatives.
This role is tailored for engineering leaders capable of directing multi-disciplinary teams, collaborating with clients to execute design projects, and leveraging technical resources from across the organization.
A well-qualified candidate will demonstrate independent leadership within the company and exhibit a growth mindset, ready to tackle all facets of industrial projects. This position involves working closely with various disciplines from initial concept through design and construction phases, maintaining direct communication with clients, vendors, and contractors to achieve project objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, execute, and supervise specific project tasks related to mechanical and process design.
- Maintain project timelines and budgets while guiding team members to effectively complete project tasks.
- Coordinate with other disciplines as the project lead to ensure comprehensive project task completion.
- Develop conceptual plans, layouts, and project scopes.
- Create flow diagrams and Process & Instrument Diagrams.
- Generate Project Capital Cost Estimates and develop project schedules for both front-end engineering and detailed design projects.
- Draft equipment, project, and material specifications.
- Conduct field verifications of new designs and existing environments.
- Gather existing information and analyze data.
- Prepare reports, project summaries, and recommendations.
- Guide projects from initial design concepts through to construction.
- Provide on-site bid, design, and construction support.
Travel Requirements
Willingness to travel as necessary, typically less than 25% of the time.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Paper Science Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering Technology.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in a Design Engineering role for multi-disciplinary industrial projects.
- Licensed Professional Engineer.
- Highly proficient in fluid process design (P&IDs and pumping systems) and/or bulk material handling.
- Exceptional presentation and verbal communication skills.
- Strong written communication skills.
