Job Summary

The Trauma Performance Improvement Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the adult trauma program under the direction of the Trauma Program Manager. This role involves extracting data from patient charts, trending data points, and completing quality performance management tasks. The coordinator ensures accurate and up-to-date data to support research, injury prevention efforts, and quality improvement activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in departmental strategies to ensure successful program provision, reporting, and projects in support of the trauma department and program.
  • Conduct primary and secondary reviews of process measures, filters, and complications according to institutional guidelines.
  • Prepare and present tertiary reviews at trauma morbidity & mortality meetings and multidisciplinary QI and Trauma Operations meetings.
  • Collaborate with trauma program leadership to determine the full extent of injuries and complications to address concerns regarding inaccurate data or data sources.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing required.
  • Three to five years' experience working with complex system issues such as triage or program development required.
  • Registered nurse with current license in the State of Connecticut.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Five to seven years' experience in Critical Care and/or Emergency Nursing.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent clinical judgment.

Working Conditions

  • May require prolonged sitting.
  • May require prolonged use of computer monitors.
  • May require walking and transport between hospital, health system, and university campus locations.
