We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Facilities Maintenance Specialist to join our team at HES Facilities Company. In this role, you will play a vital part in ensuring the cleanliness, safety, and functionality of school facilities.

About the Role

This is a Full and Part-Time position with flexible shifts. As a Facilities Maintenance Specialist, your primary responsibility will be to maintain the overall appearance and sanitation of our schools. You will perform a variety of tasks including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, scrubbing, and waxing floors, as well as cleaning walls, vents, screens, furniture, drinking fountains, light fixtures, window blinds, brass, and other interior fixtures.

Responsibilities
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, scrub, and wax floors regularly.
  • Machine shampoo carpeting to ensure it remains clean and free of dirt and stains.
  • Clean walls, vents, screens, furniture, drinking fountains, light fixtures, window blinds, brass, and other interior fixtures to maintain a clean and hygienic environment.
  • Wash interior and exterior windows and glass doors to keep them spotless.
  • Sweep entryways, empty exterior cigarette urns, and empty trashcans immediately outside building entrances to maintain a tidy appearance.
  • Clean restrooms, plunger sinks, and toilets, and replenish supplies to ensure they remain sanitary.
  • Change interior light bulbs that can be reached from the sixth step of a ladder or lower to prevent accidents and maintain lighting levels.
  • Complete work requests to notify management of needed repair work to address any issues promptly.
  • Remove snow and ice and apply salt and/or ice-melting products to assigned areas when needed to ensure safe access to buildings.
  • Organize and supply custodial closets as needed to maintain a well-stocked inventory.
  • Move, remove, and/or set up furniture, furnishings, supplies, equipment, and any other items, inside specified rooms for special functions as directed.
Qualifications
  • Able to read, write, and comprehend at a level appropriate to the duties of the position.
  • Good interpersonal skills to effectively interact with colleagues, students, and staff.
  • Must be able to work with a diverse group of people, promoting a positive and inclusive environment.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new situations and responsibilities.
  • Criminal background check required prior to employment.
Physical Requirements
  • Lift up to 50 pounds safely and efficiently.
  • Ability to push, pull, stand, bend, stoop, and kneel for extended periods.
  • Walk up to 8 hours per day while maintaining a steady pace.
  • Climb ladders, scaffolds up to 6' high, and stairs to access hard-to-reach areas.
  • Able to use basic hand tools to complete tasks.
