Maintenance, Inventory Specialist Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance, Inventory Specialist to join our team. This critical role will play a key part in ensuring the efficient and uninterrupted operation of our maintenance department by accurately managing and tracking inventory levels of all maintenance supplies and equipment.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Maintenance Supervisor and Planner/Scheduler to optimize inventory control processes, reduce waste, and ensure timely availability of essential resources. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing and mentoring inventory clerks in the administration of the parts/inventory program, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Accurately tracking and maintaining inventory levels of all maintenance supplies and equipment.
  • Creating new equipment, bills of material, and parts in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Reviewing parts daily to ensure the most accurate information is being provided for the CMMS.
  • Writing, editing, and modifying purchase orders (POs) and work orders (WOs) as needed.
  • Creating and writing WOs for quotes and contracts and services for maintenance and utilities.
  • Maintaining spare parts service level, inventory turns, and inventory accuracy.
  • Developing and tracking action plans to achieve management goals.
  • Utilizing the CMMS to assist with solving inventory issues, reducing cost, increasing machine uptime and reliability, and providing management and employees with the information required for them to do their job.
  • Assisting in establishing and maintaining policies and procedures for the stock room area in accordance with industrial manufacturing standards.
  • Receiving, categorizing, stocking, and adjusting inventory.
  • Staying updated on the latest storeroom technologies, methods, concepts, and procedures.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and organization of the stock room consistent with industry standards.
  • Responsible for all outgoing shipments from the maintenance department, including bill of lading, scheduling pick-ups, and proper packing of the shipment.
  • Utilizing powered industrial lifts as necessary.

We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual with a strong background in inventory management and maintenance. The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A High School degree or General Equivalency Diploma (GED).
  • Direct knowledge from procurement to point of use in manufacturing.
  • Safety and Security - Observes safety and security procedures; reports potentially unsafe conditions; uses equipment and materials properly.
  • Must possess (or have the ability to get) an industrial lift license.
  • Proficient use of Excel, Word, Access, Outlook, the Internet, and CMMS.
  • A hands-on knowledge of maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) spare parts.
  • Proficiency in CMMS software and systems.
