We are seeking a talented Senior Plumbing Design Engineer to join our busy Bay Area teams in Oakland, Encino, or San Diego. As a key member of our plumbing design team, you will lead the design process and approach for medium-large sized projects, manage client relationships, and ensure the quality and accuracy of our work. Your expertise in plumbing and hydronic systems will be essential in creating innovative designs that meet the needs of our clients. • Lead the design process and approach for medium-large sized projects
• Manage client relationships and ensure the quality and accuracy of our work
• Develop and edit specifications for plumbing and fire protection systems
• Create narratives (basis of design) for the SD, DD, and CD work
• Coordinate service requirements/connections with utility and municipal agencies
• Write various reports and ensure successful completion of Construction Administration tasks
• Review and interpret code-related items with engineers to ensure compliance
• Attend project progress meetings, provide updates for Team Leader, Project Manager, and/or Principal-in-Charge
• Perform site visits with junior and intermediate staff for documentation of existing systems and conditions
• Manage BIM/Revit drafting and design operations, ensuring maintenance of BIM/Revit and design files, and adherence to Introba design checklist and BIM/Revit Standards

Qualifications:

• 10+ years of design experience in Plumbing Engineering and preparing Fire Protection performance specification documentation
• BS Architectural Engineering, BS Mechanical Engineering, BS Plumbing Engineering, or equivalent degree required; or equivalent combination of relevant coursework and minimum 15+ years work experience required
• Ability to read Architectural, Structural, Electrical drawings
• Ability to apply prescriptive requirements of plumbing, building, and sprinkler codes (i.e. NFPA, CPC, CBC, etc.)
• Ability to perform accurate detailed site surveys
• Knowledge of water efficiency strategies and systems (rainwater catchment, greywater systems, etc.)
• Proficiency in coaching/teaching
• Ability to sketch ideas
• Management of projects and staff
• Ability to communicate ideas effectively in meetings with architects and consultants
• Professional Engineer (PE), EIT, and/or CPD designations are highly preferred
• LEED Accredited Professional designation is preferred
