Key Responsibilities- Conduct inspections and investigations to identify and prevent the introduction and spread of agricultural pests and diseases
- Enforce standards and regulations related to agricultural products, including labeling, weighing, and measuring
- Collaborate with other agencies and stakeholders to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations
- Provide technical assistance and training to farmers, producers, and other stakeholders on agricultural best practices and regulations
- Develop and implement plans to control and eradicate agricultural pests and diseases
- Bachelor's degree in agricultural science, biological science, chemical science, physical science, mathematics, and/or statistics, including completion of college-level courses in botany and entomology
- Two years of full-time work experience performing at the level of an Agricultural/Weights and Measures Inspector I for a public jurisdiction
- Two valid State of California weights and measures licenses covering Weight Verification and Measurement Verification
- Three agricultural licenses covering Commodity Regulation, Pest Prevention and Plant Regulation, and Pesticide Regulation
- Valid California Class C Driver License
This position requires frequent heavy lifting over 25 pounds, often combined with bending, twisting, or working above ground on irregular surfaces.
