About the Role

Sugar Creek Packing Co. is seeking a highly skilled Industrial Electrician to join our team. As an Industrial Electrician, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing electrical systems, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and repair electrical equipment, including motors, generators, and switchgear, to meet regulatory codes and industry standards.
  • Read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and code specifications to determine the layout of electrical equipment installations.
  • Perform rigging activities, safety-related functions, and other miscellaneous electrical tasks.
  • Install, examine, replace, or repair electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, fiber-optic and coaxial cable assemblies, lighting fixtures, and other electrical components.
  • Test electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage, and resistance.
  • Maintain, repair, install, and test switchgear, transformers, switchboard meters, regulators, and reactors.
  • Maintain, repair, test, and install electrical motors, generators, alternators, industrial storage batteries, and hydraulic, pneumatic electrical control systems, and motor control circuitry.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair industrial, electrical, and electronic control systems and other related devices.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance programs and keep maintenance records.
  • Install, maintain, and calibrate industrial instrumentation and related devices.
  • Perform installation and maintenance work as part of a team of skilled trade workers.
  • Define scope of work for new electrical installation projects, including building a bill of materials list, requesting job or parts quotes, working with third-party contractors and/or vendors, and submitting written job requisitions.
  • Navigate the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to identify parts in inventory, submit requisitions, review work orders, and preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Support all safety, food quality, and sanitation initiatives and policies.
  • Follow Sugar Creek Packing Co. safety rules and procedures.
  • Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Four (4) years of journey-level electrical experience, or completion of a four-year, accredited technical training program in electrical repair and maintenance and two (2) years of electrical experience.
  • Ability to test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes to ensure compatibility and safety of the system.
  • Working knowledge of NFPA 79: Electrical Standard for Industrial Machinery, Ugly's Electrical Reference, NFPA 70 National Electrical Code.
  • Relevant Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements for proper electrical installation for industrial electrical installations.
  • Strong experience with 3-phase, 480V, and industrial troubleshooting.
  • Able to routinely use computer programs such as Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel).
  • Knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and Variable Frequency Drives (VFD).
  • Able to safely and proficiently use shop tools (both hand and power).
  • Able to safely utilize a forklift and high lift.
  • Strong self-motivation and exemplary work ethic.
  • Able to be a self-directed individual but also take direction from plant leadership.
  • Strong knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
