About the Role

The Pediatric Respiratory Therapist Specialist will play a critical role in providing high-quality respiratory care to our patients, including routine and complex procedures. This position requires collaboration with a multidisciplinary team and effective communication with patients and families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess patient clinical status, evaluate progress toward goals, and recommend courses of action to determine a plan of care
  • Plan for patient's respiratory care needs in collaboration with other members of the care team to provide the highest quality of clinical outcomes
  • Safely perform various diagnostic and therapeutic procedures according to established standards, procedural guidelines, and policies to provide safe patient care
  • Analyze critical situations and apply appropriate judgment and critical thinking to achieve problem resolution
  • Accurately and reliably interpret and communicate patient results to support patient care
  • Document interventions performed and response to therapies in the electronic medical record to result in compliant and useful documentation
  • Interact with and explain therapeutic modalities to patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team in an understandable manner based on learning styles and individual diversity to ensure collaborative care coordination
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Associate's Degree from a registered respiratory therapy program approved by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC)
  • Current Florida Respiratory Therapist Licensure
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
  • Minimum of 1 year experience as a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) preferred
  • No experience required for New Graduate Registered Respiratory Therapist
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
  • Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from the American Heart Association or must be obtained within 120-day orientation period
  • Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification if working in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
