Responsibilities include managing a designated number of hospitalist beds and patient census.

The hospitalist will oversee a closed ICU.

  1. Core responsibilities include managing the clinical needs of acutely ill hospitalized patients.
  2. Admitting adult patients with medical conditions requiring hospitalization.
  3. Providing thorough and prompt attention to all patient care needs, including diagnosis, treatment, and execution of medical procedures within their scope of practice.
  4. Collaborating and communicating effectively with physicians from various specialties and healthcare personnel involved in patient care.
  5. Conducting inpatient medicine consultations and providing post-operative care for other medical and surgical specialties.
  6. Implementing quality improvement initiatives and process enhancements.
  7. Facilitating discharge planning and managing patient discharges.
  8. Ensuring safe transitions of patient care within the hospital and to community settings, including oversight of post-acute care facilities.
  9. Utilizing hospital and healthcare resources efficiently.
  10. Training and supervising medical students, residents, and other healthcare professionals.
  11. Responding to and managing Rapid Responses or Codes as necessary.
  12. Assessing patients and developing appropriate management plans for acute events or changes in patient status.
  13. Coordinating with nursing staff and addressing inquiries or concerns as needed.
  14. Providing comprehensive hand-off communication at the end of shifts to the incoming team.
  15. Identifying patients requiring transfer to tertiary care facilities and facilitating the process.
