Unit Overview
The Cardiac Prep and Recovery unit is a specialized 24-bed facility dedicated to the preparation and recovery of both outpatient and inpatient individuals undergoing procedures in the Cath and Electrophysiology Labs. Operating hours are from 6 AM to 9 PM, ensuring comprehensive care for our patients.
This unit engages in a variety of procedures, including electrophysiology, diagnostic and interventional cardiology, structural heart interventions, and peripheral vascular treatments. New team members will acquire expertise across these diverse specialties. Additionally, we provide diagnostic and follow-up care for heart and lung transplant patients, fostering long-term relationships with this unique patient demographic. Our staff excels in IV access, effective time management, and the management of vascular access sites.
Work Schedule
The selected candidate will be required to work one 10-hour shift biweekly.

Role Responsibilities
The Registered Nurse, operating within the ANA scope of practice, employs the nursing process framework to deliver professional nursing care. This includes integrating patient-family centered care principles to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and facilitate discharge. The RN ensures quality patient care under the guidance of the Nurse Leader, adhering to Spectrum Health policies and procedures while recognizing the significance of nursing care and patient/family collaboration on health outcomes. The RN collaborates with patients and families to incorporate their input and goals into the care plan, developing educational strategies and documenting learning in the health record.

Qualifications
- Associate's Degree in Nursing required
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required within five years
- Current Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license required
- AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days
- AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required within six months
