Position Overview

ROLE SUMMARY:

The after school program instructor is tasked with designing and overseeing engaging group activities for children participating in the non-Montessori segment of the educational framework.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The primary responsibilities of the educator include, but are not limited to:

  • Planning daily individual and group activities tailored to the children in their care.
  • Creating an organized and stimulating environment, incorporating areas for imaginative play, artistic expression, and constructive building.
  • Establishing clear and age-appropriate guidelines for behavior.
  • Developing a balanced schedule that includes both active and quiet periods, as well as indoor and outdoor activities.
  • Identifying any unusual behaviors or signs of illness among the children.
  • Engaging with parents to understand their needs and expectations.
  • Keeping the program director informed of any issues requiring attention.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and order in the classroom, shared spaces, and playground.
  • Ensuring compliance with all school rules and regulations, as well as those set by regulatory bodies.
  • Preparing necessary materials in advance for daily activities.
  • Possessing the willingness to operate the school van, if over 21, to safely transport children from local elementary schools.

REQUIREMENTS:

Must possess a High School diploma.

Must meet the criteria set by all relevant State and Local licensing authorities.

Must provide references from previous employers.

Experience working in a childcare setting with children of appropriate ages is required.

Current CPR and first aid certification is necessary.
