Job Title: Senior DB2 Database Administrator

ManTech International Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Senior DB2 Database Administrator to join our team in Colorado Springs, CO or Annapolis Junction, MD. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing technical support and expertise in DB2 HADR environments on AIX and RHEL platforms.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for DB2 HADR environments on AIX and RHEL platforms.
  • Implement database changes to improve performance and security, and plan, coordinate, and implement security measures to safeguard databases.
  • Measure database performance and troubleshoot complex database and HADR issues.
  • Configure and monitor databases across all application services.
  • Configure and maintain systems, user databases, and instances in AIX and Linux environments.
  • Configure and maintain schemas, table spaces, tables, indexes, buffer pools, and logs.
  • Configure and manage database backups and recoveries with IBM TSM.
  • Expert in scripting SQL, Perl, and Shell.
  • Review project requests describing database user needs to estimate time and cost required to accomplish project.
Requirements:
  • 3 years hands-on DB2 administration experience inclusive of upgrades, configuration, tuning, index creation, and performance analysis.
  • 2 years hands-on experience with DB2 HADR installations.
  • Experienced in configuration, security, failover, and optimization of databases in high availability environments.
  • Experience with various business processes and system modeling tools, including Data Flow Diagrams, Process Models, ER Diagrams, Dimensional Data Models, Context Models, Event Modeling, State Modeling, Process Decomposition, and Use Case Scenarios.
  • Experience in planning and implementing fault-tolerant and high-availability systems.
  • Hands-on experience implementing and configuring packaged real-time monitoring and alerting solutions.
  • Experience with other performance monitors (e.g., Omegamon).
  • Hands-on experience with automation of tools, implementations, scripting, and database reporting metrics and reports.
  • Heavy SQL experience writing complicated queries from scratch, tuning code, analyzing impacts.
  • Experience with SAN storage systems.
  • Expertise in backup/recovery/fail-over methods and best practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to write clear documentation of operating procedures and ability to write detailed specifications.
  • Must have a 'can-do' attitude, work well in a cross-functional environment, must be able to work well without supervision, and lead others. Candidate should be a self-starter, quick learner, and great team player.
  • Possess the ability to prioritize competing priorities and work in a cross-matrix management organization.
  • Required to be on-call and respond in a timely manner.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • IBM AIX Administration
  • RHEL Administration
  • IBM Tivoli Monitoring
  • IBM Tivoli Storage Manager
  • ITIL Certification
  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or other related scientific or technical discipline with 3 or more years related professional experience. (Education can be substituted for experience).
Clearance Requirements:
  • Active DOD Secret clearance and ability to obtain agency suitability clearance.
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to remain stationary up to 75% of the time in an office environment.
  • Must be able to traverse between one work location to another to accomplish work duties.
  • Must be able to operate IT equipment such as a computer, copier, fax machine, etc.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with management and co-workers to exchange information accurately.
  • Must be able to read, review, and effectively respond to electronic as well as verbal communications.
  • This position supports an IT operations environment. Candidates may need to support work on nights and weekends and may be included in an on-call rotation for after-hours support.
  • Currently, the contract work location requirement is to work in the office at the customer's site once weekly at a minimum. This is subject to change.
