The primary role involves achieving targeted gross margin and profit objectives for a designated business unit. This position will focus on curating the ideal merchandise mix to meet or surpass company objectives, leveraging a deep understanding of merchandising principles and management strategies to optimize retail space and return on investment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with the Merchandise Director to develop product lines and determine private brand offerings.
  • Conduct market research to analyze trends and lifestyles for the design and launch of ready-to-market jewelry.
  • Provide strategic guidance to marketing initiatives.
  • Ensure all follow-ups and placements meet product specifications, quality standards, and contractual deadlines, adhering to pricing strategies and timelines.
  • Develop merchandise assortment strategies, establish seasonal goals, set appropriate pricing, and monitor sales performance, adjusting the merchandise mix as necessary for success.
  • Work closely with Design, Retail, Manufacturing, Internet, and Marketing teams to manage retail mark-ups, merchandise flow, and timely product delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with legal requirements for products, including proper packaging and labeling.
  • Maintain open and consistent communication among all stakeholders involved in the development process to achieve optimal results for the company.
  • Build and nurture relationships with all parties engaged in the development and production of private branded merchandise.
  • Coordinate with merchandising and design teams to create market calendars.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Engage in regular design review meetings with cross-functional category partners.
  • Act as a liaison with vendors throughout the product development process to ensure timely progress of samples.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A seasoned jewelry professional with a keen understanding of current fashion trends, capable of aligning them with our merchandise assortment.
  • Proficient in computer applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook. Strong analytical abilities complemented by effective communication, time management, and organizational skills, with a detail-oriented and multitasking approach.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Self-driven, innovative thinker with problem-solving capabilities.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

A Bachelor’s degree is required, along with 5-10 years of experience in a leading national jewelry manufacturing or retail environment, whether in mass market, department store, or specialty store settings.
