The Senior Financial Credit Advisor serves as the primary authority within the Credit Department, possessing the expertise to support the Credit Manager effectively.

This role entails assessing the creditworthiness of both new and existing clients, overseeing the management of accounts receivable and cash accounts, processing payments, generating preliminary notices and lien releases, and maintaining financial records and reports.

Collaboration across various departments is essential, as this position will engage with all organizational levels to address challenges, offer insights, and provide specialized training, supporting both retail and headquarters operations on a regular basis.

Key competencies include the ability to operate independently, exercise sound judgment, adapt collection strategies, manage time efficiently, and demonstrate exceptional organizational skills.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Acting as the subject matter expert for the Credit Department and providing support to the Credit Manager.
  • Offering coverage for the Store Credit Office as necessary.
  • Evaluating creditworthiness through thorough analysis of financial reports and historical data.
  • Establishing new accounts.
  • Creating Preliminary Notices and Lien Releases.
  • Identifying and implementing continuous process enhancements.
  • Collecting receivables by reaching out to clients and investigating non-payment circumstances.
  • Reviewing overdue accounts and advising on final demands, Mechanic Liens, or bad debt to the Credit Manager.
  • Assisting in the development and enforcement of credit policies and internal controls.
  • Responding to incoming credit inquiries.
  • Collaborating with store teams to reconcile cash discrepancies.
  • Managing departmental reporting for cash overages/shortages, phone metrics, and credit clearances.
  • Assisting with the posting of Lockbox payments.
  • Supervising the Credit Team during month-end close and billing processes.
  • Supporting external vault reconciliations and cash reporting.
  • Contributing to the achievement of business objectives and goals within the Credit Team.
  • Participating in the hiring, training, and mentoring of Credit Team Members.
  • Training new Store Management Team Members on credit policies.
  • Listening to and anticipating customer needs, providing proactive solutions.
  • Maintaining consistent attendance and punctuality.

Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's or Associate Degree in Finance or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Experience:
5-7 years in a finance or retail setting.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential for effective interaction with customers and internal partners. Proficiency in Microsoft D365 and other accounting systems is preferred, along with advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access) and Smartsheet.

The ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a dynamic environment is crucial, as is attention to detail and the capacity to identify and resolve issues comprehensively.

Strong analytical skills are required to calculate figures and evaluate financial data. Candidates should be able to work independently, make informed decisions, and adapt to a fast-paced environment.

Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to foster collaborative relationships across various teams are vital.

Confidentiality and compliance with PCI standards are paramount, recognizing the sensitive nature of customer and company information.


Work Environment:
This position is primarily office-based within a Friedman's location in Northern California, with potential for a hybrid work schedule. Field assignments may require occasional travel to store locations.
