Job Summary:
We are currently looking for a Cath Lab Technologist to fill a 13-week travel position in Modesto, California. As a Cath Lab Technologist with Magnet Medical, you will be responsible for assisting cardiologists and other physicians during cardiac catheterization procedures.
Salary and Benefits
This position comes with a competitive salary package based on 10-hour shifts and 40 hours per week. The tax-free stipend amount will be determined upon confirmation. Key Responsibilities
- Pre-Procedure Preparation:
- Ensure all necessary equipment and tools are sterile, functional, and properly set up before procedures.
- Verify patient information, including medical history, allergies, and consent forms, before the procedure begins.
- Assist in preparing patients, including setting up monitoring equipment and ensuring proper positioning for optimal results.
- Provide patient education and reassurance before the procedure, explaining what will happen and answering questions.
- Assisting with Procedures:
- Assist cardiologists and other physicians during cardiac catheterization procedures.
- Handle sterile instruments, such as catheters, balloons, and stents, during procedures.
- Operate X-ray fluoroscopy equipment and assist with imaging during diagnostic tests.
- Monitor vital signs during procedures and report any abnormalities to the physician.
- Administer medications under physician direction, ensuring patient safety throughout the procedure.
- Post-Procedure Care:
- Monitor patients for immediate complications after procedures.
- Assist in transferring patients from the procedure table to recovery, ensuring comfort and safety during transport.
- Help with patient recovery by monitoring cardiac rhythm, vital signs, and the insertion site for signs of complications.
- Provide post-procedure instructions to patients and their families.
- Equipment Management and Maintenance:
- Maintain, clean, and sterilize cath lab equipment and instruments.
- Regularly check and troubleshoot cath lab machinery, including X-ray equipment and patient monitors.
- Order necessary supplies and manage inventory to ensure all materials needed for procedures are available and in good condition.
- Patient Monitoring and Safety:
- Continuously monitor patients' vital signs during procedures.
- Ensure proper documentation of patient information, procedures, and outcomes.
- Adhere to safety and infection control protocols to minimize exposure to patients and staff.
- Collaboration with Medical Team:
- Work closely with cardiologists, radiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality care.
- Attend pre-procedure meetings to review patient conditions and provide input.
- Assist in evaluating the results of diagnostic tests to support treatment plans.
- Education and Training:
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in cardiac catheterization techniques and equipment.
- Participate in ongoing education, certification programs, and training in relevant areas.
- Educate patients about their condition, procedures, and follow-up care.
Average Salary Range: $85,000 - $110,000 per year based on industry standards and location.
