Electrical Estimating Director

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Estimating Director to join our team at William Charles Construction. As an experienced professional in the construction industry, you will be responsible for leading our electrical estimating department and ensuring effective management of resources, pre-bid coordination, and bid management for high voltage electrical construction projects.

In this role, you will develop estimating practices, collaborate with various departments, and ensure staff are equipped for project success. The ideal candidate possesses extensive construction estimating experience along with strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

The successful candidate must have superior communication, management and organization development skills. They should be able to work with other department managers to meet corporate results/initiatives and ensure that employees are familiar with procedures, forms, instructions needed for communication with other departments, including familiarity with corporate limits such as the Delegation of Authority Matrix. The candidate must develop, follow and enforce standard policy and procedures for employees. They must communicate and enforce the Employee Handbook as well as track time (weekly payroll, vacation, sick).

The Electrical Estimating Director will work closely with the Preconstruction Manager to achieve the department objectives. They will also be responsible for the management and continued development of the estimating department. Additionally, they will act as Hiring Manager for the department by evaluating the department needs, produce requisitions for new staffing resources and conduct interviews with candidates in conjunction with HR to evaluate the appropriate candidate.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the firm's estimating activities including pre-bid attendance, bid management, cost databases, estimating software, estimating publications, databases, Plan Room, and implementing/improving all estimating practices.
  • Conduct/attend project meetings/huddles as needed to communicate project requirements.
  • Establish timelines and estimating goals for effective and timely submittals.
  • Ensure effective communication and collaboration on estimates between all disciplines and parties.
  • Develop department protocol for best estimating practices.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you will need:
  • Proven high-level construction estimating experience as well as leadership and mentoring skills.
  • Proven management experience, a history of leading, teaching, developing, and mentoring others successfully.
  • Demonstrates solid presentation skills and verbal/written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams.

Benefits and Compensation:

As an employee of William Charles Construction, you can expect a competitive salary of $160,000 - $180,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
