The Hidalgo Co. is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Detention Officer to join our team in the Juvenile Supervision Department. As a Detention Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of detained juveniles in our facility.

• Monitor and supervise the daily activities of detained juveniles, ensuring their safety and well-being.
• Provide orientation and expectations to juveniles during admission, promoting a positive and supportive environment.
• Plan and implement daily living activities, including meals, recreation, and education programs.
• Maintain discipline and security within the Detention facility, adhering to all departmental policies and procedures.
• Conduct regular searches and pat-downs, as well as write detailed incident and behavioral reports.
• Ensure facility cleanliness, sanitation, and safety, maintaining a high level of professionalism and moral character at all times.
• Escorts juveniles in an orderly fashion, promoting a positive image of the department in the community.

• Graduation from a high school or equivalent (GED).
• Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• Bilingual (Spanish and English) with the ability to converse fluently in both languages.
• Must complete oral interviews and pass a background investigation.
• Must be eligible for certification by the Texas Juvenile Probation Commission as a Juvenile Supervision Officer.
• Must have a current valid Texas motor vehicle operator's license and proof of liability insurance.
