Position Summary
We are seeking a Mechanical Cost Estimator to join our expanding team. This role involves preparing precise and timely estimates for materials and labor related to HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems. The estimator will collaborate with vendors to ensure accurate cost assessments that align with project specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Estimate costs for HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems.
- Analyze construction drawings and project narratives.
- Conduct accurate quantity take-offs for HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection.
- Prepare detailed scopes of work as necessary.
- Document any special conditions encountered during the estimation process.
- Assist in take-off estimates for ongoing construction projects.
- Maintain organized records for all estimated projects.
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Build and sustain relationships with vendors and subcontractors.
- Continuously enhance estimating skills for HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection projects.
- Manage time efficiently to meet estimating deadlines.
- Utilize OST software for quantity take-offs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
- Ability to provide cost estimates per square foot for HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems during early design phases.
- Familiarity with various HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection equipment and pricing.
- Knowledge of productivity metrics and site experience.
- Estimating experience with various agencies is advantageous.
- Ability to engage with design teams for scope clarifications.
- Experience with Value Engineering and Change Order Estimates.
- Proficiency in Sage and OST software.
- Strong organizational skills and effective time management abilities.
- Demonstrated initiative and the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Positive attitude and flexibility in handling assignments.
- Excellent skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Effective problem-solving skills to address and resolve issues.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to quality work.
- Strong work ethic and adherence to company policies.
