Job Title: Cloud Network Engineer

At 23andMe, we are seeking a highly skilled Cloud Network Engineer to join our team. As a Cloud Network Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing, deploying, and administering our corporate and Cloud network infrastructure.

About the Role

We are looking for a talented individual with a strong background in cloud networking, network automation, and infrastructure as code. The ideal candidate will have experience with Terraform, Python, and AWS/Cloudflare APIs. You will work closely with our Cloud Infrastructure team to integrate NetOps systems into our alerting, logging, monitoring, and other systems.

Responsibilities
  • Design, deploy, and administer our corporate and Cloud network infrastructure
  • Enhance, deploy, and configure Network Operations (NetOps) systems via automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
  • Work with the Cloud Infrastructure team to integrate NetOps systems into our alerting, logging, monitoring, and other systems
  • Automate software/firmware updates, analyze performance, and proactively monitor telemetry/logs to identify potential issues/failures
  • Maintain and troubleshoot our network environment, including rotating on-call schedule
Requirements
  • At least 10 years of experience in a network engineering role
  • Deep understanding of switching, routing (LAN and Internet scale/BGP), IPv4/IPv6 addressing, TCP/IP protocols, VLANs, LAG, MCLAG, etc.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to thrive under pressure and meet ambitious objectives
  • AWS networking and DNS experience
  • At least 3 years of experience building IaC services using Terraform and Python
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience, in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Juniper Network firewalls, routers, switches
  • Fortinet Fortigate firewalls
  • Python Expect/TCL
  • Network security strategies and methodologies
  • Hands-on experience with logging and telemetry platforms such as New Relic, Sumo Logic, etc
  • Implementation/migration of IPv4 to IPv6
