About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Emergency Medical Technician Specialist to join our team at University Hospitals. This is a critical position that requires expertise in providing emergency medical care and responding to life-threatening situations.

Job Summary

  • Assist patients and healthcare professionals during emergency department visits, including performing 12-lead EKGs, blood draws, and administering aerosol treatments.
  • Ensure daily completion of quality controls, defibrillator checks, and refrigerator checks.
  • Prepare patients and care environments for exams, specimen collection, and anticipate patient needs proactively.
  • Perform delegated basic procedures as described by their annual competency-based tool and orientation program.

Responsibilities

  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors or senior colleagues.
  • Comply with all policies and standards set by University Hospitals.
  • Refer to documentation provided during orientation for specific duties and responsibilities.
  • Maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) securely and confidentially.

Requirements

  • Degree from an accredited paramedic program.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse socioeconomic backgrounds and organize changing work assignments.
  • Proficiency in medical terminology, patient care equipment, and telecommunications systems.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and State of Ohio Paramedic Certification required upon hire.
  • PALS certification within six months of employment.

Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary range for this position is $55,000-$75,000 per annum, commensurate with experience and qualifications. In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
