Key Responsibilities
  • Education and Training
    • Assess, plan, develop, implement, and evaluate educational needs of respiratory personnel to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to provide high-quality patient care.
    • Design and deliver ongoing continuing educational programs to meet the needs of our respiratory care team.
  • Point of Care Testing
    • Perform moderate or waived point of care testing as needed, in accordance with CLIA guidelines.
  • Staff Development and Competency
    • Manage individual staff competencies and identify learning needs of the department.
    • Implement, evaluate, and monitor new techniques, products, and procedures to ensure they are aligned with best practices.
  • Clinical Knowledge and Expertise
    • Maintain a current and extensive clinical knowledge base to facilitate respiratory care practice.
  • Departmental Support
    • Maintain the Respiratory Care department web page to ensure accurate and up-to-date information is available to staff and patients.
    • Assist with the development and revision of departmental policies and procedures to ensure they are aligned with best practices.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration
    • Educate other members of the healthcare team, including physicians and RNs, on respiratory care best practices.
    • Design and participate in appropriate continuing education programs to support the growth and development of our healthcare team.
  • Flexibility and Adaptability
    • Able to adopt a flexible schedule to accommodate clinical and educational needs.
  • Service Excellence
    • Demonstrate standards of performance that support patient satisfaction and principles of service excellence.
Requirements
  • Education
    • BS degree preferred; completion of an approved two-year AMA-accredited Respiratory Care Educational program; or three years of practice in a regional referral center may be substituted for BS degree.
  • Licensure and Certifications
    • Licensed by the NC Respiratory Care Board and registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
    • NPS, PALS, NRP, and BLS certifications required.
  • Experience
    • Previous supervisory or educator experience preferred.
  • Neo/Peds Educator
    • Three years of experience working in Neonatal Pediatric Respiratory Care.
