Job Title: Police Officer

Join the City of Kodiak Police Department as a Police Officer and contribute to maintaining a safe and secure community.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to fill the position of Police Officer. As a Police Officer, you will be responsible for enforcing laws, preventing crimes, and providing excellent customer service to the community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Patrol designated areas of the city to preserve law and order, discover and prevent crimes, and enforce traffic and other laws and ordinances.
  • Respond to calls for service, including emergency situations, and provide assistance to citizens in need.
  • Conduct investigations at crime scenes, gather evidence, and interview witnesses and suspects.
  • Make arrests, issue citations, and testify in court as needed.
  • Participate in community policing initiatives and build relationships with the public to enhance trust and cooperation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors or as needed to support the department's mission.
Requirements:
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have a valid Alaska driver's license or be able to obtain one within 30 days of hire.
  • Must meet all requirements to be a Police Officer under Alaska Administrative Code (13 AAC 85).
  • Must be able to work non-traditional hours, including weekends, holidays, and shift extensions.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Alaska Police Standards Council (APSC) certification.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience as a police officer or in a related field.
