This role is essential in supporting faculty, staff, and students by delivering design and fabrication services, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, and reporting directly to the Machine Shop Manager. In the absence of the Manager, this position assumes responsibility for maintaining production quality and safety standards.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Operate and upkeep various machining tools for design and fabrication services
  • Employ Computer Aided Design/Manufacturing technologies
  • Instruct staff, faculty, and students on equipment operation
  • Advise on design and material selection
  • Collaborate to produce high-quality machined components and designs
  • Ensure a productive and safe machine shop environment
  • Document activities, irregularities, and requirements for optimal productivity
  • Manage inventory and equipment maintenance effectively
  • Stay informed about emerging technologies and educational opportunities
  • Demonstrate commitment to achieving organizational objectives
  • Contribute to a safe working environment in accordance with UCF policies
  • Fulfill all assigned responsibilities efficiently
Minimum Qualifications:

Completion of a machinist apprenticeship program or equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Extensive experience in CNC Machining and Solidworks software
  • Proficiency in MasterCam and Microsoft Office products
Health Assessment Note:

Completion of a physical examination is required as per UCF policy.

Special Instructions:

Upon selection, position and salary will be determined based on application. Completion of Solidworks certification within one year is required.
