We are seeking a highly skilled Pediatric Dentist to join our team at the Department of Health and Human Services. As a Pediatric Dentist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality dental care to children, including routine check-ups, fillings, and extractions. You will also be involved in the development and implementation of pediatric dental programs, as well as conducting special surveys to secure baseline information related to pediatric dental services.
Key Responsibilities- Provide dental care to children, including routine check-ups, fillings, and extractions
- Develop and implement pediatric dental programs
- Conduct special surveys to secure baseline information related to pediatric dental services
- Assist the Chief with the development, implementation, and evaluation of the Pediatric Dentistry program
- Supervise hospital dental personnel as pertinent in the Pediatric Dental clinic
- Perform oral surgery, endodontic, prosthodontic, operative, and preventive orthodontic services to predominantly minor-age children with referral in appropriate complex cases
- Emergency services, including the treatment of trauma, pain, and infection
- Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from a school approved by the American Dental Association (ADA) or the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA)
- Pass the National Board Dental Examinations (NBDE) and possess a current, full, and unrestricted license to practice dentistry in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States
- At least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: In-depth knowledge and understanding of dentistry and the specialty of Pediatric Dentistry, highly developed diagnostic skills, expert treatment planning ability, outstanding behavior management skills, and considerable skill in administering treatment
This position requires the ability to distinguish shades of color and to work in a fast-paced environment. The selected individual is required to obtain and maintain medical staff clinical privileges, including any licensure requirements. If privileges are not obtained or maintained during employment, the employee will be subject to adverse actions, up to and including removal from Federal service.
