Job Overview

Salary: Competitive

Under the general guidance of the Quality Supervisor overseeing the Alaska Breast and Cervical (AK B+C) Cancer Screening Assistance Program, this role is dedicated to facilitating external outreach and conducting community visits.

Essential Qualifications:

Educational Background

A Bachelor's degree in human services is preferred; effective communication skills are essential. Cultural sensitivity in engaging with diverse communities is required.

Professional Experience

Prior experience in education, health, human services, or customer service is necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Arrive at work punctually and prepared for the scheduled shift.
  2. Implement and support outreach initiatives aligned with the organization's objectives, including conducting door-to-door visits in targeted neighborhoods to distribute educational materials and outreach to potential patients.
  3. Provide individualized assistance to enroll participants in the AK B+C Cancer Screening Assistance Program, facilitating scheduling, transportation, and resource connection services to mitigate barriers.
  4. Educate individuals and the community about the agency's mission and services, including referrals to primary care services.
  5. Organize community events at various settings to inform individuals about breast and cervical cancer screening, offer patient navigation services, and assist with enrollment in health programs.
  6. Connect individuals with eligibility assistance.
  7. Complete the Community Health Worker Apprenticeship Program through the Alaska Primary Care Association.
  8. Participate in outreach training sessions, meetings, and conference calls.
  9. Maintain accurate records and generate reports regarding individual and community interactions and project-related expenses.
  10. Stay informed about AK B+C cancer screening guidelines and the agency's services.
  11. Collaborate as a member of an integrated multidisciplinary team.
  12. Engage in team meetings.
  13. Adhere to the organization's policies and procedures.
  14. Utilize personal computer and specialized office equipment in accordance with established procedures.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned.

Demonstrated understanding and commitment to serving uninsured populations and the mission of the Interior Community Health Center.

Proven ability to work effectively with diverse age groups and multicultural communities.

Flexibility to work varied hours and navigate inclement weather conditions.

Possession of a vehicle that meets agency requirements.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and common office equipment (copier, fax, printer).
