Ophthalmic Technician

As an Ophthalmic Technician at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our medical team. Your primary responsibilities will include assisting with patient screenings, performing ophthalmic testing, and maintaining accurate records. You will work closely with our providers to ensure seamless care delivery and contribute to a positive patient experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough patient screenings, including visual acuity tests, refractions, and ocular motility assessments.
- Perform a range of ophthalmic tests, including tonometry, corneal curvature measurements, and color vision testing.
- Assist with minor surgical procedures, laser treatments, and intravitreal injections.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including medical histories and test results.
- Communicate effectively with patients, providers, and other team members to ensure seamless care delivery.
- Participate in continuing education and training to stay current with industry developments and best practices.
- Two years of experience as an Ophthalmic Technician or completion of a JCAHPO-accredited program.
- Registered Medical Assistant (Washington) certification within two months of hire.
- Basic Life Support certification within one month of hire.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Three to five years of experience as an Ophthalmic Technician in a group ophthalmological practice or environment.
- Familiarity with EpicCare or electronic medical records systems.
