Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Massage Therapist to join our team at the YMCA of East Tennessee. As a Massage Therapist, you will provide therapeutic massage and administer body treatments to soft tissues of the human body, assisting in healing and promoting relaxation for our members and non-members.

Key Responsibilities
  • Schedule appointments and provide quality therapeutic massage as scheduled by the front desk attendants.
  • Ensure a minimum of twelve (12) hours and three (3) days of availability per week for each therapist.
  • Assist with the marketing of massage therapy services.
  • Actively promote massage therapy internally within the fitness center and externally, as opportunities arise.
  • Stock massage rooms with linens and leave the table ready for the next client on a daily basis.
  • Attend mandatory monthly meetings for the massage therapy department.
  • Participate in staff meetings, support branch and Y fundraising initiatives, and attend professional training as appropriate.
  • Maintain a professional image and manner consistent with the YMCA's mission and goals.
  • Act as a role model and incorporate character development values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility into the daily operation of the spa services department.
Requirements
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalency required.
  • Must be a graduate from an accredited school of therapeutic massage.
  • Tennessee licensure is required, and NEC certification is preferred.
  • Acquire CPR certification within sixty (60) days of hire.
Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to outdoor weather. The noise level in the work environment is moderate. Must be able to perform within this environment.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of members or employees of the organization.
