Job Description

The Counter Sales Representative plays a vital role in supporting our goal of creating lasting value for our customers by performing tasks to support the branch location and serving as a resource to customers. This position is responsible for offering counter support while exhibiting outstanding customer service skills and a commitment to quality and efficiency.

Responsibilities:

  1. Serve a group of diverse customers at counters by providing information on products or services.
  2. Assist customers with product selection and application.
  3. Share information as it relates to our credit policy, delivery options, in-house services, and training events.
  4. Provide feedback on accurate product availability and delivery information.
  5. Maintain a neat, organized, and clean appearance throughout the counter area.
  6. Work directly with vendors to obtain special pricing when applicable.
  7. Grow sales and gross margin.
  8. Utilize vendor websites for product searches, pricing, availability, and cut sheets.
  9. Review and manage daily reports and queues to maintain accurate prioritization and necessary follow-up on bids, open orders, and credits.
  10. Manage all inbound and outbound communications in a professional and timely manner.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • A strong ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive and/or customer-related information.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with good sales tactics.
  • Ability to prioritize work based upon customer need(s).
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office or related software.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Willingness to seek continual education regarding newly available products.
  • Previous experience working in electrical sales or distribution required.
