POSITION SUMMARY:
The Nursing Operations Manager oversees the Inpatient Care, Emergency Services, and Case Management departments. This role is essential in providing support across various areas as needed.

The responsibilities for Inpatient Care and Emergency Services include the strategic planning, collaboration, and execution of safe and effective patient care, which encompasses discharge planning in conjunction with interdisciplinary healthcare team members, ensuring superior patient care through the establishment of clinical protocols and pathways.

Monitoring patient outcomes and addressing any issues that arise is a critical component of this role. The manager is also responsible for the collaboration, development, and execution of effective patient discharge planning.

Engagement with all relevant interdisciplinary team members is vital to ensure seamless coordination of patient care through the creation and utilization of clinical protocols and pathways.

It is imperative to achieve specific patient outcomes and evaluate any variances from established standards, addressing them as necessary.

The manager will ensure that the appropriate level of care and admission/discharge criteria are met by measuring and monitoring the severity of illness and service intensity through the use of interqual monitoring criteria.

Participates in new employee orientation for all new staff and ensures competencies for nursing staff are completed.

Facilitates the delivery of annual mandatory and continuous education for staff using both internal and external resources in accordance with state and federal regulations and company policy.

Maintains employee education and training records.
Assists with Quality Improvement initiatives alongside the Quality Improvement Officer.

Ensures the delivery of annual mandatory and continuous education for staff utilizing internal and external resources in compliance with state and federal regulations and company policy.

Generates and prepares reports for unit leaders or administration as required.

Monitors specific patient outcomes across all areas and evaluates to ensure excellent care is provided, addressing any issues as necessary.

Participates in all Performance Improvement initiatives as assigned, including HEN initiatives (e.g., Reducing Readmissions) and Meaningful Use indicator monitoring.

Responsible for providing coverage in both the Emergency Room and Inpatient areas during short staffing or call-ins.

Responsible for preparing the staff schedule for both Inpatient and Emergency Room.

Participates in all Performance Improvement initiatives.

Possesses a high level of knowledge regarding Revenue Cycle Processes, as well as CMS and commercial insurance concepts.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Qualifications:
Education/

Experience Requirements:
Graduate from an accredited nursing program, with a Bachelor's degree preferred or current enrollment in a program.

Three or more years of prior management experience in nursing or a minimum of two years of supervisory experience preferred.

Knowledgeable regarding the North Carolina Nurse Practice Act.

Licensure/Certification Requirements:
Current North Carolina Registered Nurse Licensure. Current BLS certification required and obtained within three months of hire. ACLS and PALS certifications required and obtained within six months following hire.
