Key Responsibilities

The primary role of the Expo is to ensure that culinary orders are prepared efficiently, guaranteeing that all dishes for a table are served simultaneously. The Expo acts as a crucial communication link between the kitchen and service staff, ensuring the quality, accuracy, and promptness of all orders.

  • Manage product receipt and inventory.
  • Prepare recipes and menu items according to specifications.
  • Label, date, cover, and refrigerate prepped items appropriately.
  • Perform opening, closing, and side duties, including setup, stocking, and breakdown of kitchen and expo stations.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, line, expo, dish room, and back dock areas.
  • Wash dishes and operate dishwashing equipment.
  • Adhere to safety and sanitation protocols.
  • Exhibit a sense of urgency in all tasks.
  • Implement recycling practices where applicable.
  • Interpret order tickets or automated Kitchen Display System accurately.
  • Assemble orders while verifying product quality and specifications.
  • Possess extensive product knowledge.
  • Handle re-cook, special prep, long ticket, and large party procedures efficiently.
  • Communicate professionally with colleagues and Front-of-the-House staff.
  • Serve as a liaison between the kitchen and service teams.
