Endoscopy Assistant

Job Summary:
As an Endoscopy Assistant at Tri-State Memorial Hospital, you will play a vital role in assisting nurses and physicians in gastroenterology procedures. Your responsibilities will include preparing the procedure room, performing post-procedure clean up and sterilization, and maintaining accurate recordkeeping of physician observations. You will also assist in patient care, collect biopsies and specimens, and ensure the field remains sterile.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Clean, disinfect, and test scopes and endoscopic instruments according to manufacturer recommendations and facility policies.
Maintain attention to detail and comprehend the importance of proper disinfection.
Perform daily safety checks on endoscope equipment and notify the Nurse manager and/or Charge nurse of any issues.
Provide assistance with skilled nursing care as directed by the RN.
Assist with patient care during endoscopy procedures, including collecting specimens.
Prepare scope and procedure rooms, including entering patient data and assembling supplies.
Assist with housekeeping duties to ensure a safe patient environment and efficient room turnover.

Education and Training:
High school diploma or GED required.

Licensures/ Certifications:
Current American Heart Association BLS/CPR certification card on hire.
Certified Medical Assistant or Certified Nursing Assistant preferred.
Current Endoscopy Technician Certification or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire.

Experience:
Previous Endoscopy Technician or Sterile Processing Technician experience preferred.
