Nutrition Specialist: This position is a 0.0FTE/Per-diem role scheduled for 8-hour day shifts as required.

Compensation: Non-exempt, $32.30/HR-$46.51/HR

Position Overview:
This role involves coordinating nutrition services for individual patients, both in inpatient and outpatient settings, along with their families and caregivers as necessary. Additionally, it includes managing the employee wellness initiative.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Conducts nutrition evaluations, identifies tailored nutrition strategies for both inpatient and outpatient groups, and executes them as required.
  2. Implements evidence-based, patient-centered nutrition care that is safe, effective, efficient, timely, and aligns with the quality standards of Mason Health.
  3. Collaborates with the Culinary and Nutrition Services department to create and execute nutritionally suitable menus that meet the diverse needs of the inpatient demographic.
  4. Acts as a vital member of the Mason General Hospital patient care team, offering nutritional expertise and working alongside other professionals to enhance patient outcomes.
  5. Oversees the Mason Health employee wellness initiative, which includes nutrition education for staff, wellness events, and various engagement opportunities.
  6. Develops community-focused nutrition presentations and provides education to individuals within the hospital district as necessary.
  7. Applies evidence-based research to contribute to quality improvement strategies and the development of policies and procedures related to nutrition therapy.
  8. May serve as a clinical mentor for Dietetic Interns.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor's degree in Dietetics/Nutrition.
  2. Active membership in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
  3. Preferred experience in clinical dietetics.
Licenses and Certifications Required:
  1. Registered Dietitian or eligibility for registration.
  2. Dietitian Certification from the Washington State Department of Health.
  3. Current Washington Food Handlers Permit.
  4. Certified Diabetes Educator from the American Association of Diabetes Educators is preferred.
