Job Summary

A Commercial Driver is responsible for safely operating a front-end load (FEL) truck and providing courteous waste removal services for customers on a designated route. The driver must complete daily vehicle inspections and verify that the vehicle meets the Company's safety standards and state and federal regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Vehicle Inspection and Maintenance: Perform complete pre- and post-operation inspections of the vehicle to ensure tire pressure, fluid levels, safety equipment, gauges, and controls are in proper working order.
  • Route Service: Safely operate the heavy truck along the designated route and to the disposal site, reading route sheets and following maps to service each customer as identified.
  • Courteous Customer Service: Interact with customers, dispatchers, and others in a professional and courteous manner to ensure all customer routes are serviced in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Waste Management: Identify unsatisfactory waste containers, tag containers as needed, and continuously monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable waste.
  • Accident Response: Clean the area around an accidental waste spill, adhering to all applicable safety standards and policies.
  • Vehicle Maintenance: Continuously monitor the condition of the vehicle to ensure it is operationally ready at all times, minimizing downtime and cleaning waste from the packer blade and truck body on each disposal trip.
  • Reporting and Productivity: Complete required route/productivity sheets, DVIR, and other reports as needed, maintaining adherence to required productivity standards for the department.
  • Safety and Compliance: Follow all required safety policies and procedures, performing other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Experience: Two years of prior experience driving heavy commercial trucks.
  • License: Class B CDL.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience in auto loading garbage trucks is not required but is preferred.
