Position Overview
We are in search of a Cafe Head Chef to oversee our bustling cafes and markets situated in vibrant neighborhoods. Our cafes are cherished by the local community, primarily serving loyal patrons. This role is set in a fast-paced, collaborative, and supportive atmosphere.
The Cafe Head Chef acts as the crucial link between the culinary teams and the General Manager. This position involves culinary expertise along with some administrative duties, offering numerous opportunities for professional development. The ideal candidate will be meticulous, organized, and deeply passionate about our commitment to seasonal and locally sourced cuisine.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage culinary operations with 1-2 years of experience in a leadership role.
- Balance responsibilities between multiple cafe locations and supervise back-of-house staff.
- Emphasize seasonal cooking and utilize local produce in menu development.
- Create and update recipes for seasonal adjustments to our salad and sandwich offerings multiple times a year.
- Collaborate with the culinary team to design seasonal menus and assist in organizing pop-up events and special dinner series.
- Oversee all ordering processes for back-of-house and select retail items.
- Schedule and manage back-of-house cafe teams effectively.
- Maintain a valid DOH food handler's license.
- Coordinate maintenance schedules and manage kitchen inspection timelines.
- Engage in daily communication with the Culinary Director, production team, and delivery team to ensure smooth inventory and product transportation.
- Exhibit strong administrative, organizational, and communication skills.
- Participate in kitchen operations to assist with preparation and assembly of menu items.
- Train culinary staff on operational systems, including inventory management and organization.
- Availability for some weekend shifts is necessary.
Compensation and Benefits
- This position is full-time and salaried.
- Eligible for health, dental, vision, and life insurance for all full-time employees.
- Includes two weeks of paid vacation annually.
