This position is integral to the Blue Origin Operations team, which encompasses Integrated Supply Chain, Facilities, and Security, including Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across our various facilities.

As a member of our diverse and dynamic team of Machinists, NC Programmers, and Technicians, you will be responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of cutting-edge CNC machinery to produce components for a range of spaceflight systems. Your contributions will directly influence the success of our CNC machining and fabrication processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate a variety of CNC machines to manufacture precise components.
  • Ensure first-article success on high-value parts with tight tolerances.
  • Collaborate with team members to enhance machining processes and outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • Availability to work Monday-Thursday from 4:00 PM to 2:30 AM.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in CNC machining.
  • At least two (2) years of experience working with super alloys and hardened metals.
  • Familiarity with CNC machines such as Hermle, Hass, DMG Mori, GF Mikron, and/or Okuma.
  • Proficient in Fanuc, Siemens, Heidenhain, or other CNC controls.
  • Strong skills in blueprint reading, including GD&T per ASME Y14.5M-1994 standards.
  • Competence in using personal computers for operational tasks.
  • Ability to provide feedback on Design for Manufacturing.
  • Physical capability to climb ladders, work in confined spaces, and lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Proven ability to build trust and maintain professional relationships within a diverse team.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, national, permanent resident, or legally admitted refugee/asylee.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in tooling and fixture design.
  • Knowledge of Vertical Turning Lathe (VTL) operations.
  • Understanding of outside processing methods including heat treating, plating, coating, EDM, and grinding.
  • Experience with CMM programming and operation.
  • Familiarity with CNC programming, preferably NX.
  • Conversational programming experience on CNC machines.
  • Experience operating heavy lifting equipment such as cranes and forklifts.
