Key Responsibilities:


As an Addiction Medicine Physician with YesCare, you will have a pivotal role at the Riverside Correctional Facility.


Under the guidance of the Regional Medical Director, you will exercise considerable independent judgment and initiative, becoming an essential member of the medical team.

You will lead the provision of comprehensive healthcare services to our patients.

This role includes overseeing all Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners within this specialty, along with managing their performance and recruitment within the department.


Your duties will involve diagnosing and treating patients with a history of substance abuse and addiction, serving as their primary care provider, and managing all their chronic and acute medical conditions.


You will evaluate patients through examinations to identify medical issues, utilizing physical findings, diagnostic imaging, laboratory results, and patient statements as diagnostic tools.

You will order specific tests to identify abnormalities and administer or prescribe treatments and medications. Referrals to other specialists will be made when necessary.


You will provide standard community care based on evidence-based medicine for clinical services required, including but not limited to sick calls, chronic care, comprehensive histories and physicals, and all emergency care needs.

You will adhere to the approved formulary for therapeutic regimens before considering non-formulary procedures.

Documenting relevant observations and logical conclusions will be essential to justify the need for non-formulary medications on the request form for the Regional Medical Director's approval when such medications are ordered.

You will utilize available in-house resources for treatment or resolution of identified issues before opting for off-site referrals.

You will uphold medical care standards by adhering to existing policies and procedures, serving as a resource to other professional or non-professional personnel by providing guidance as necessary.

Attendance at Medical Staff meetings will be required. You will provide monthly in-service education to staff as requested and participate in monthly quality of care reviews and chart assessments as needed. Sponsorship of physician assistants or nurse practitioners will be part of your responsibilities.

You will notify the Site Medical Director and/or Site Health Services Administrator of any schedule changes and assist in arranging coverage for medical services during extended absences.
