Job Title: Radiology Technologist

We are seeking a skilled Radiology Technologist to join our team at the Detroit Medical Center. As a Radiology Technologist, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality diagnostic imaging services to our patients.

Job Summary:

Under the supervision of a radiologist, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic radiological exams, verifying patient identity, and reviewing medical records for appropriateness of exams or procedures. You will also be required to explain procedures to patients, set up equipment, and acquire images as per script.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform diagnostic radiological exams, including X-rays, CT scans, and MRI scans
  • Verify patient identity and review medical records for appropriateness of exams or procedures
  • Explain procedures to patients, including risks, benefits, and alternatives
  • Set up equipment and acquire images as per script
  • Review images, make initial observations, and document exceptions from established protocols
  • Communicate data to radiologists and provide post-care instructions to patients
  • Participate in process improvement activities, including quality of care, patient flow, and patient satisfaction
  • Provide imaging education to residents, student technologists, and new employees
Requirements:
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiography (R)
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BLS) training
  • Strong analytical and clinical skills, with ability to work effectively in a culturally diverse atmosphere
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to comprehend and follow physicians' verbal and written requests and prescriptions
  • Technical knowledge necessary to operate equipment, including specialized equipment and computers
  • Ability to work productively and effectively within a complex environment, handle multiple/changing priorities
  • Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting, and positioning of patients
