Job Description

Indiana Public Retirement System (INPRS) is a leading pension fund in the United States, serving over 473,000 members and retirees. We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented student to join our Finance Department as an intern.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily reconciliations of employer and member contributions
  • Prepare daily cash funding requests and analysis
  • Prepare periodic account reconciliations for specific processes and general ledger accounts
  • Analyze and resolve differences in a timely and efficient manner
  • Prepare journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation
  • Perform related duties or special projects as assigned
  • Prepare schedules for monthly and annual reporting

Requirements:

  • Basic knowledge of accounting and auditing standards
  • General knowledge of organization, functions, goals, and purposes of the department and agency
  • Good problem-solving, analytical, mathematical, and research skills
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to set priorities, work under pressure of formal schedules and deadlines
  • Attention to detail with high degree of accuracy
  • Follows policies set by the Finance department without reminder
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective work relationships
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Good understanding of internal controls and ability to implement controls
