Custodial Team Member


The Anchorage School District seeks a skilled Custodial Team Member to maintain clean floors, furniture, fixtures, and grounds in our schools. This role involves reporting needed repairs and monitoring the building for safety while securing the facility at the end of the day. Traveling between locations is also a requirement of this position.



Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required, and two years of related work experience may be considered in lieu of the education requirement.
  • Some experience related to custodial work is necessary.
  • Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
  • Must be able to work any shift, including the morning shift, evening shift, or night shift.
  • A current Alaska driver's license is required.
  • Must be able to travel to any location within the Anchorage School District as needed.
  • Must have reliable transportation to get to and from work, as well as be able to travel between locations during a single shift, as necessary.
  • Must have the ability to reach with hands and arms and occasionally lift items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • The Anchorage School District requires that the selected applicant for this position be given a conditional offer of employment contingent upon successfully passing a post offer/pre-employment physical capacities assessment.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Six months of successful responsible custodial experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of the safe and effective use of common electrical cleaning equipment is a plus.
  • Skill for efficient use of time, motion, tools, equipment, and supplies to produce quality work on time is desirable.
  • Ability to use simple math and dilution ratios to properly dilute concentrated chemicals is beneficial.
  • Ability to learn ASD methods of cleaning and materials used in custodial work is a must.
  • Ability to do heavy manual work is necessary.
  • Ability to work independently is a plus.
