Sociology Professor

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Assistant Professor of Sociology to join our faculty at Coastal Carolina University. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate courses in sociology, conducting research, and engaging in service to the university and the community.

• Teach undergraduate courses in sociology, including introductory courses and upper-level electives
• Conduct research in sociology, including the advancement of new theories and principles to improve educational effectiveness
• Engage in service to the university and the community, including committee assignments, meetings, and scholarly pursuits
• Develop and maintain a strong research program, including the publication of scholarly articles and the presentation of research at conferences
• Advise and mentor undergraduate students in sociology, including those pursuing degrees in sociology and related fields

• Ph.D. in Sociology by the time of appointment in August 2025
• Excellent teaching and research skills, with a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and students from diverse backgrounds
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff
